Culture POP Soda's Branding Highlights Flavor And Function

Probiotic sodas certainly have a lot going for them. They combined the benefits of kombucha—fermented tea chock full of probiotics—with the more conventional experience from a fizzy, sweet pop. You can find live microorganisms in these elixirs, and many believe that these microbes promote gut health.

Well, now you can throw another brand on the pile—Culture POP Soda is a new functional beverage that combines probiotics with sophisticated and creative twists to classic flavors.

Culture POP Soda comes in flavors such as Orange Mango with chili lime, Watermelon with rosemary and lime, Ginger Lemon with turmeric, Pink Grapefruit with ginger and juniper, and Wild Berries with basil and lime. The new functional soda line enlisted creative agency Rook for branding, visual identity, and packaging.

The color palette comes based on the ingredients, and luscious depictions of the more familiar tastes are featured up front. American Typewriter is the primary type choice, lending a touch of nostalgia, which like the illustrations, anchors the brand to the less exotic and less novel. The probiotic features get called out prominently along the top front of the can, while onomatopoeic and ideophonic copy is splashed on the back, using words such as fizzy, zesty, zingy, spicy, and gutsy to describe Culture POP Soda.

Rook’s work makes the soda brand fun, playful, and approachable, striking the right balance between indulgence and wellness. It visually feels like classic, fruity sodas, but it’s different enough to communicate that it’s not liquid sugar and has an adulting flair because of the probiotics.

The full range is available online directly from DrinkCulturePop.com and select stores in the Northeast.
